They are even organized as a special caste within Hindu society. This book by Chase is, IMHO, is a keeper!. Frustrating.
The science is interesting, but shallowly covered. Thinking I would loose the baby at any turn. This short book contains no fluff or fillers, just opportunity for change should you be willing to put the work in on your end. It's a life saver. One such result is Serre's theorem, the other being the computation of some low-dimensional homotopy groups of the wedge product of S(2) with itself.
The last chapter of the book considers the theory of characteristic classes, with Chern classes of complex vector bundles being treated first. There's a particularly useful appendix with an outline of steps to take to modify your own habitual behaviors -- at least, those you want to modify, since we could not function without habit. It would take up far too much of our brainpower if we didn't have habits -- another thing I learned from this book.. Not because I lik
